The adult education Radio Award is awarded in five categories: information, culture, education, interactive/experimental programmes and serial programmes/features. The award in the Education/Science category is named after the late adult trainer and ORF curator, Eduard Ploier. The award is awarded by the Büchereiverband Österreichs (Association of Austrian Public Libraries), the Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Bildungshäuser (Working Group of Educational Centres), the Verband Österreichischer Volkshochschulen (Association of Austrian Adult Education Centres), and the Wirtschaftsförderungsinstitut (Insitute of Economic Development).
